The Better Together Awards recognize outstanding partnerships, teamwork, and collective impact across our network. These awards highlight the teams that demonstrate the power of collaboration to advance our mission and create meaningful results.
The awards process provides an opportunity to showcase innovative approaches, recognize shared achievements, and celebrate the people whose commitment to working together strengthens our organization and the communities we serve.
Five award categories honor excellence across key areas:
Community Relations & Development (CRD) Team Award: Recognizes a team that strengthens a culture of philanthropy and drives impactful fundraising efforts to support The Salvation Army’s mission.
Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Team Award: Honors a team that delivers exceptional emergency services through coordinated, high-impact disaster response efforts that reflect excellence in service.
Social Services (SS) Team Award: Celebrates a team that demonstrates outstanding commitment to meeting human needs through high-quality, impactful social service programs.
Advisory Organizations (AO) Award: Recognizes an advisory group that provides strategic leadership, fosters community partnerships, and advances mission impact through collaboration, advocacy, and philanthropy. Teams within CRD, EDS, or Social Services, or Advisory Boards, Councils, Women’s Auxiliaries or Echelon chapters are eligible.
Better Together Collaboration Award: Recognizes teams that work across multiple disciplines (CRD, Social Services, EDS, and/or AO) to deliver exceptional impact through collaboration, service, and mission-focused partnership. This award celebrates integrated teamwork that strengthens philanthropy, enhances service delivery, and meets human needs through a unified, mission-driven approach.
About the Awards Process
Each year, nominations are submitted and reviewed through a structured evaluation process designed to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency. Submissions are assessed against established award criteria, with attention to impact, collaboration, innovation, and measurable outcomes.
Through this process, nominated teams are recognized for their contributions, and selected honorees are celebrated for exemplifying the spirit of partnership and collective success.
